Processed locally in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to any server.

A note on how this works: this tool needs the actual password — it does not crack, guess or brute-force protected PDFs. Once unlocked, each page is re-rendered to rebuild the file without the password, which means the output is image-based: great for merging, viewing, printing or sharing, but text will no longer be selectable or searchable in the result.

Frequently asked questions

Can this remove a password I don't know?

No. You need the correct password. This tool removes protection so you can use the file freely afterwards — it does not attempt to crack or guess passwords.

Why does the unlocked PDF lose selectable text?

Removing real PDF encryption without a server-side library means rebuilding the file from rendered page images. It looks identical and works fine for merging, printing or viewing, but the text layer isn't preserved.

Can I unlock a PDF and then merge it with another one?

Yes — that's exactly the case this was built for. Unlock it here first, or just drop the protected file straight into Merge PDF, which now asks for the password automatically when it hits a locked file.

Is my password sent anywhere?

No. The password is used locally in your browser to decode the file and is never transmitted or stored.
